A modelling portfolio is your visual introduction. Its job is not to prove that you can create fifty different looks. It is to show your appearance clearly, demonstrate some range and help a client or agency imagine where you could fit.
Quality matters more than quantity
A smaller set of strong images is usually better than a large collection of similar photographs. For someone starting out, six to twelve carefully chosen images can be enough. As you gain experience, the portfolio should evolve rather than simply grow.
Build around a few essential types of image
Start with a clean portrait where your face is easy to see. Add a full-length image that shows your proportions, a natural lifestyle shot and at least one image that demonstrates a more styled or editorial look. If you want to work in beauty, include a closer beauty portrait. If content creation is part of your plan, add images that feel natural in a social-media environment.
Keep editing believable
Professional retouching can polish an image, but it should not turn you into someone a client will not recognise. Over-smoothing skin, reshaping the body or relying on strong filters can weaken a portfolio because the images stop being useful as evidence of your real look.
Make the portfolio match your direction
A portfolio should become more specialised as your goals become clearer. Someone interested in commercial lifestyle work needs different examples from someone pursuing glamour, beauty or creator-led work. There is no single perfect portfolio for every model.

Refresh it as you change
Your appearance, styling and confidence can change quickly, especially during your first year. Replace older or weaker images as better ones become available. A current portfolio is more useful than a technically impressive portfolio that no longer represents you.
